Nah, Lennon was vampirized by Ono. Sucked dry! He was just scared to acknowledge it.

Andrew Goulding: A sterling analysis indeed, sir, and one I agree with to a certain extent. Trouble is I find most of his solo stuff, apart from the occasional song, to be a bit rubbish. But then, it was always going to be difficult living up to what had come before.

Plastic Ono Band a lacklustre album? I beg to differ. In my opinion, it was his only solo album of any lasting merit, a must for any Beatle fan.

The album is all crash and burn vitriol with Lennon trying to cope with:

1 No longer being in The Beatles, the greatest band in the world - and at the time, in a global-changing decade, in the unique position of straddling Culture & Counter-culture
2 No longer being with McCartney, his true love. (In my eyes, Ono was a kooky Oedipal figure, not an equal)
3 Suspecting that he would never write a great tune (not song) again - and he didn't
