And so this prolonged car crash that is Gordon Brown and his treacherous band of thieves ploughs relentlessly onward as he makes not just one, but two policy U-turns in the space of a few days.

First off - in what’s up there with the quickest of embarrassing public U-turns to have been perpetuated by useless governments - there’s the decision to scrap one of the key elements of the plans to tackle what seems to have become a small-scale epidemic of knife crime.

Headline-grabbing knife gimmick
Sunday brought news of a plan to take youngsters caught carrying knives, into hospital wards to see the victims of knife attacks. By Monday this had been repealed and downgraded to a meeting with doctors and hospital staff to discuss the injuries knives can cause. Duh!

The original proposal had been announced without any consultation with hospitals or doctor’s groups regarding silly little details such as logistics and potential disruption, and should rightly be dismissed and derided for the knee-jerk, half-baked attempt to look as if they’re actually doing something, idea that it clearly was.

There was no thought process put into this gimmick, just another attempt to court headlines; and there wasn’t an ounce of consideration for the mentioned ‘victims of knife crime’. I mean, which of the clueless wonders in government really thought that somebody in hospital recovering from potentially fatal stab wounds would welcome being paraded in front of a gang of chavs and muggers? Fuckwit!

Which brings us to the second U-turn. What really riles me about this, apart from the arrogance and stupidity displayed, is the fact it has me agreeing with a Tory, although it’s safe to say David Cameron’s comments are only for the purposes of political point-pinching, and not based on any genuine concern of his. And to maintain the interests of neutrality here, I would also like to say the same for the leader of that band of chancers, the Liberal Party, Nick Clegg.

Headline-grabbing fuel gimmick
So what was this second U-turn? Namely the decision to once again postpone the 2p increase in fuel duty that was scheduled for October.

Gordon Brown said the government would “continue to help hard-pressed families who are facing high fuel bills and high food prices because of what is happening in every country in the world…

- Thanks for clearing that last bit up, Gordon.

So how does this help hard-pressed families then? They’re still in the same boat. There’s been no cut in fuel tax. There’s no attempt to alleviate the rising costs at the pump by easing the burden on the one part of the equation they have complete control over.

And so I find myself in reluctant agreement with the Tory leader, David Cameron, when he asked, “Can you tell us whether this decision had anything to do with the [forthcoming] Glasgow-East by-election?”

Lies, Lies, and more Lies…
Indeed. So terrified are this corrupt government of yet another trouncing at the polls – and heaven forbid, losing their deposit again - that they blatantly attempt to buy the vote with a meaningless gesture. And the contempt they hold for the electorate is evident in the fact they expect us to swallow these lies, lock, stock and 100 dollar barrel.

Come the next general election it would almost be worth it for this lot to fall spectacularly to a landslide defeat, just to see the smug and arrogant looks wiped from their collective faces, Portillo-style (circa. 1997). But of course, that moment’s joy would quickly be tempered by the realisation that something even worse had taken the reigns of power.

Therefore, Gordon, I abstain. I will not be held accountable for keeping your band of traitors in power or handing the keys back to the either of the other feasible contenders in what has become a sham of a race.

So continue lying and back-peddling all you want, and the rapid decline in voter turnout that has manifested over the past decade will continue to speak for itself.

This abstainer, along with a great deal of the population, has had enough. We’re not listening to, nor falling for your bullshit any more.

Not one jot!
